The Greater Lafayette Career Academy (GLCA) will host an open house Wednesday, October 27 to celebrate the completion of phase two of the building project. Visitors will be able to tour the 20,000 square feet of additional space from 4:30 - 6:30 pm.

The expanded facility includes high-bay lab space that will accommodate construction, automotive technology, welding and advanced manufacturing classes. Additional renovated space is being used for aviation, precision agriculture, automotive technology, welding, advanced manufacturing and other courses.

In addition, eighth grade students from across Tippecanoe County will participate in a career fair earlier that day and the following day, October 28. Students will experience interactive displays from local businesses and post-secondary schools that focus on programs available at GLCA.

“The goal is for students to begin thinking about their future and how they can explore career interests while in high school,” says College and Career Pathway Advisor Kim Howat. “It’s our goal to inform as many students and parents about the amazing opportunities that are available in our facility. These programs allow students to get a jump-start on their career, receive dual credits and/or industry recognized certifications. It is also an opportunity to encourage students to develop a four-year high school plan, while emphasizing the importance of doing well in core courses to qualify for GLCA programs.”
